Wiener Neustadt has finalized the sale of 1,646 municipal apartments, completing a major divestment plan initiated in April 2025. The final three packages, totaling 289 units, were awarded on September 21, 2026, with the official handover set for October 1.
EGW Wohnbaugesellschaft and entrepreneur Mirza Sehic acquired the remaining properties. EGW took over the Robert-Stolz-Siedlung and sites on Ezilingasse, while Sehic purchased units on Lederergasse and Nittnergasse, including the local Green Party office.
Mayor Klaus Schneeberger's administration sold the majority of its housing to eliminate a four-million-euro annual budget deficit. While 600 units remain city-owned, private owners like Michael Tojner now manage major sites like the Schärf-Hochhaus.
