A new 2025 analysis by Statistik Austria reveals that 39 percent of the Austrian population now uses generative AI tools like ChatGPT or Meta AI. This represents an 11-point increase from 2024, placing Austria twelfth in the EU for overall AI adoption.

The survey, commissioned by the OeAD, shows that 86 percent of students used AI tools recently. While 66 percent of young adults claim high AI knowledge, only 10 percent of seniors do. Public interest in learning about AI has also risen to 40 percent.

Austria's 39 percent usage rate exceeds the EU-27 average of 33 percent, though it trails leader Denmark at 48 percent. Half of employed Austrians find AI useful for their work, while only 13 percent express concern regarding potential AI-related job loss.
