Austria Schedules Nationwide Siren Test for Oct 3

Austria will test its civil defense sirens and ZIVA digital application on October 3 to ensure emergency readiness and public awareness.

Austria will conduct a nationwide civil defense siren test on Saturday, October 3, 2026, between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. The exercise is designed to verify the technical functionality of the sirens and familiarize the public with various emergency signals.

The warning system now includes the new ZIVA digital application, developed by the Austrian Civil Protection Association. ZIVA supplements sirens and the AT-Alert mobile system, providing real-time hazard warnings, checklists, and behavioral instructions.

Civil Protection Association President Andreas Hanger emphasizes that this integrated system ensures comprehensive safety. By combining sirens, AT-Alert, and ZIVA, authorities can deliver critical information directly to citizens during disaster situations.
