A building in Vienna's city center partially collapsed on Sunday evening around 10:30 PM. The ceilings of three floors in a Färbergasse property gave way, causing a 57-year-old woman to fall from the third floor and become trapped under heavy debris for hours.
Emergency responders from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, Johanniter, and SMD treated multiple victims. A 60-year-old man fell two floors, sustaining bruises, while an 88-year-old woman was hospitalized. Fourteen neighbors were evacuated for safety.
Police are now investigating the incident for negligent public endangerment. Authorities noted that construction work had been ongoing in the building prior to the collapse. The 57-year-old victim remains hospitalized with multiple fractures and bruises.
