A violent altercation involving approximately ten people broke out Saturday night around 8:15 p.m. at Franz-Josefs-Kai in downtown Vienna. Witnesses alerted police to the brawl, but the fight had ended by the time officers arrived at the scene of the crime.
Officers discovered a 20-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his buttocks. After receiving first aid from police and emergency medical care from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The victim, who was uncooperative during transport, claimed a group of youths aged 16 to 18 attacked him. While an immediate search for the suspects was unsuccessful and the motive remains unclear, criminal police have launched a formal investigation.
