Vienna Launches Joint Surgery Booking Platform

The new op-termin.wien platform has scheduled over 245 hip and knee surgeries since May, reducing wait times for patients in Vienna.

The Vienna Health Association and Vinzenz Kliniken Wien launched op-termin.wien in May 2026, a joint platform for hip and knee replacement appointments. Since its launch, over 245 surgeries have been scheduled, and the first 25 operations have been completed.

Patients with a specialist referral can register online or via the 1450 health line. The system offers nearly 3,000 annual consultation slots across five sites, including Klinik Donaustadt and Orthopädisches Spital Speising, with wait times under 21 days.

This initiative addresses the 40,000 joint replacements performed annually in Austria. By allowing patients to choose the earliest date or a specific clinic, the platform streamlines care, as seen with a patient who booked in July and had surgery in August.
