Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig has officially rejected and cancelled the culture tax proposal initially introduced by Culture Councilor Veronica Kaup-Hasler. The decision followed a topical hour in the Vienna State Parliament initiated by the Vienna People's Party.
State party chairman Markus Figl and club chairman Harald Zierfuß are now calling for a total stop to further levies and fees. The ÖVP demands significant savings in city expenditures and structures to alleviate the financial burden on residents.
The parliament session also addressed critical social issues, including ME/CFS and Long COVID in youth, and the 'Auszeit-WG' for intensive offenders. Further debates focused on elementary school grade repetition, minimum income, and city basic services.
