Construction has begun on 's first Low Traffic Grätzl in the district, specifically the area bounded by Längenfeldgasse, Steinbauergasse, Siebertgasse, and Arndtstraße. A section of Wolfganggasse is being converted into a pedestrian zone.
City Councilor Ulli Sima and District Chairman Wilfried Zankl noted the project uses diagonal filters and repurposed concrete containers to limit through traffic. Residents and emergency vehicles retain access, while one-way rules are adjusted for cyclists.
Modeled after London's Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, this initiative includes 50,000 euros in city funding per district. Officials aim for every district to have a similar zone by 2030, with Mariahilf and Alsergrund among those currently planning projects.
