has announced extensive construction and renovation work across several tram lines starting in September 2026. Major service disruptions will impact lines 1, D, 25, 26, 27, 46, 49, and 52, as well as U6 subway stops at Neue Donau station.
Line 49 will be suspended entirely from September 21 to October 31, while Line 25 and 26 will see shortened routes and diversions through year-end. Replacement bus 26E will serve Floridsdorf, and bus lines 7A and 65A will cover closed sections of Line 1.
These infrastructure upgrades necessitate significant route changes, including splitting Line D into two sections and extending Line 52 to Volkstheater. The projects aim to modernize the network, though commuters must utilize replacement buses and detours.
