Wiener Linien to Launch New Bus Routes Sept. 7

Vienna's bus network updates include a new 2A route to Augarten and an extension of the 3A line to the Opera starting this September.

is implementing significant route changes for city buses starting September 7. The 2A bus line will exit the city center, traveling via Karmelitermarkt to Augarten. This updated route connects Stephansplatz with the second district in nine minutes.

The 3A bus line will partially take over stations previously served by the 2A to improve connections to the Seilerstätte area. Additionally, the 3A is being extended from Schwarzenbergplatz to the Opera, while the 1A bus line continues on its usual route.

These changes, originally announced in January, required coordination with municipal departments. While the City of Vienna initially suggested a year-end launch, implementation begins this September. Further updates include extending the 57A to the Opera in 2027.
