A new overhead display on the A22 Donauuferautobahn near Stockerau begins testing Tuesday at 6:00 AM. Presented Monday by Asfinag and ÖBB, the system compares car and train travel times to Vienna while listing free parking spaces and next train departures.
The project utilizes real-time traffic data from Asfinag and occupancy levels at the local Park and Ride facility. It tracks over 60 daily trains heading to Vienna Praterstern, providing commuters with current schedule information directly on the highway.
Transport Minister Peter Hanke, Asfinag's Hartwig Hufnagl, and ÖBB's Silvia Angelo launched the initiative to assist the 65,000 weekday drivers on the A22. The collaboration aims to optimize regional travel by integrating live road and rail transit data.
