Residents near Vienna's Hauptbahnhof, particularly in the Arsenal and Sonnwendviertel areas, have been repeatedly woken by loud train honking and warning signals for several months. These acoustic disruptions frequently occur between 3:00 and 5:00 in the morning.
The ÖBB attributed the noise to technical malfunctions in parked 'Talent' series passenger trains, which caused unintentional horn activations. All affected train sets were removed from service for inspection, and the issue is resolved for most vehicles.
After reporting the pollution to the police and the mayor, residents launched a public petition in late August. Similar issues were noted in Bruck an der Leitha. The ÖBB is seeking specific neighborhood feedback to help identify any potential new incidents.
